Installation Specialist

Horticulture, Irrigation & Lighting

At Hoffman Design Group, we design environments—but they only matter if they’re executed well.

This role is about bringing those environments to life in the field. Every installation, every seasonal rotation, and every detail on site contributes to how a space performs and how it’s experienced.

If you like working with your hands, solving problems in real time, and being part of a team that takes pride in the finished result—this is that role.

What You’ll Do

·      You’ll be part of a small, fast-moving team executing:

- Interior plant installations and living systems
- Exterior seasonal plantings and container work
- Summer and fall rotations
- Holiday display installations (including lighting systems)

You’ll also:

- Load, stage, and prepare materials for daily work
- Execute installs cleanly, efficiently, and with attention to detail
- Work directly on active job sites across Philadelphia
- Communicate clearly with your team and on-site contacts

Core Capability — Irrigation & Lighting Awareness

A strong candidate for this role brings working familiarity with irrigation systems and/or landscape lighting.

This includes:

- Troubleshooting basic irrigation issues (coverage gaps, clogs, emitter performance)
- Identifying and adjusting simple system inefficiencies in the field
- Understanding low-voltage landscape lighting systems
- Supporting installation, adjustment, and basic repair of lighting—especially during holiday display season
- Diagnosing issues and communicating them clearly to the team

You don’t need to design systems—but you do need to see what’s happening, understand it, and help solve it.

What Makes Someone Strong in This Role

- Moves with purpose—efficient, but not rushed
- Cares about the finished result
- Takes initiative without waiting to be told
- Can follow direction and step into leadership when needed
- Stays organized—tools, materials, workflow
- Comfortable working through real-world problems on site

How We Work

We operate in small crews.

Leadership shifts based on the job. At any point, someone steps in to organize the work and move it forward.

That means:
- You’ll sometimes lead
- You’ll sometimes support
- You’re always responsible for the outcome

Seasonal Rhythm

- Spring / Summer: Exterior plantings + rotations
- Fall: Seasonal change-outs
- Holiday (Oct–Jan): Large-scale installations with a significant lighting component

Requirements

- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift 50–60 lbs
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all conditions
- Smartphone for scheduling and communication

Compensation

Compensation is based on experience and capability, with opportunity for growth based on performance and contribution.

If you take pride in quiet, consistent work that makes environments perform at a higher level,

we’d like to hear from you.
